The world is at the beginning of a new industrial era, with clean energy technologies that will triple their value and create millions of jobs by 2030, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Thursday the 12th.

The market for key mass-produced technologies, including solar panels, wind turbines and electric vehicle batteries, will be valued at approximately $650 billion per year by the end of the decade.

However, the concentration of raw material extraction and production outside the EU, coupled with the risk of tensions in the global supply chain, can make the energy transition more difficult and costly, notes the IEA report.

The European Commission will therefore propose its own clean tech and innovation fund, President Ursula von der Leyen said. The President intends to present the parameters of such a new fund that will award the grants before the end of this year.
